Chloe Kyrke-Smith
About me
I'm at my best working with ambitious people who care about outcomes. Setting clear direction, solving the right problems, and turning strategy into reality.

I've spent the last fifteen years leading product and customer teams across some of the most interesting tech companies in New Zealand. The last year has been a deep immersion in AI product strategy and commercialisation. Shaping pricing and packaging for AI-powered tools, embedding AI capabilities into product, and helping go-to-market teams turn capability into customer value.

Before that, nearly a decade at Xero across reporting, tax and bank reconciliation, then leading product and customer at Flick Electric. I'm a Chartered Accountant by training, and I love working at the intersection of product, commercial model, and customer experience.

I'm a highly empathetic leader and I genuinely enjoy mentoring and developing others. Outside of work I'm learning to surf, on a constant quest to improve my sourdough, and trying to stay fit enough that my kids don't beat me in the pool.

Three ways I help leadership teams turn strategy into reality.

Fifteen years across SaaS, AI and energy.

Blackpearl Group (NZX: BPG) is a fast-growing NZ tech company building AI and data products for B2B sales and marketing teams targeting the US market, including Pearl Diver and Bebop. I lead product strategy across the portfolio, shaping pricing, packaging and UX to align AI capability with measurable customer value. I work directly with key customers to embed insights into their workflows, fuelling fast feedback loops that have helped drive ARR from $12.5m to $26.8m in my time here.

Flick is a New Zealand energy retailer known for transparent, customer-first pricing in a tightly regulated industry. As CPCO I led a 50-person team across Product, Design, Customer Experience, Operations and Compliance, partnering with the CEO and Board to drive customer-centric transformation through a period of significant industry change. Earlier as Head of Product I embedded an empowered teams model across Product & Technology, shifting the squads from output delivery to outcome ownership.

Cogo is a climate fintech helping banks and businesses measure and reduce their carbon impact through transaction-level data. As Board Observer through the OnBoard NZ programme, I gained first-hand exposure to governance, strategic oversight and risk in a high-growth, mission-led tech company. The year deepened my commercial judgement and laid the foundation for my own governance journey.

Xero is a global cloud accounting platform serving millions of small businesses, accountants and bookkeepers worldwide. Across nearly a decade I led product across core financial workflows including Reporting, Tax, Bank Reconciliation, Cashflow Forecasting and Invoicing, with regulatory platform work spanning NZ GST and Canadian Sales Tax. As Senior Group PM I led teams of Product Managers and Business Analysts delivering compliance-driven transformation at scale across multiple markets.

Curtis McLean is a Wellington chartered accountancy firm supporting SMEs with financial reporting, tax and advisory services. I managed a portfolio of clients, preparing financial statements, tax filings and management reports, and translating numbers into clear commercial insight. The grounding in statutory compliance and SME finance still shapes how I think about commercial models and customer value today.
